"White Bowl"

Today I finished this still life of a large white bowl that I bought from a second hand shop about 20 years ago... Its a beautiful bowl and I loved the contrast of the simplicity of the white against the black background...

But simple things are often really hard to paint. I think I worked this bowl about 7 times before adding the last reflection today.

This afternoon I changed it up with a return to a seascape - a present for a friend. It was lovely to change back to a really loose cloudscape again after working on trying to achieve the bowl painting... I think painting clouds is always my true love, I just like to dally on the sidelines with still life....
